Art of the Tiltle

Opening sequence of Blue Valentine
The opening sequence of Blue Valentine is basically constructed with a black flat 2-D background, almost translucant-like pictures taken from the film and some simplified form of fireworks.
Those simplified form of fireworks appear as explotion of small dots of bright light and sparkles. These small dots of light managed to light up the faces in the pictures and create a strong contrast against the dark backgroud which makes the characters satnd out and catch the audiences' attention. These 'fireworks' also act as a  transission btween pictures. A romantic feeling is successfully created by making use of the sparkles and firworks since they are often associated with beautiful and passionate love, which matches the pictures being shown in the opening sequence- holding hands, kissing and hugging, clearly showing that the main actor and actress in the film are in love. Using white bold text against a black background is a very clever way of constructing text in a opening sequence. The texts mainly appear in between different pictures, so that the audiences will always be able to see the texts clearly.
The background music is composed with musical instruments like guitar and drums, and the music style is quite relaxing with heavy base which reminds the audience of romantic and passionate love.

Screen shot of Panic Room opening sequence
The opening sequence of Panic Room is mainly showing the cityscape of New York, revealing where the film was set. When we think of the word 'room', we often associate it with houses, flats or buildings, so the setting actually fits with the name 'panic room' really well, also showing that all the main events and the climax are going to take place in a house or a room. Other than that because the buildings are all really close to each other and are spread from the top to the bottom of the camera so it creates discomfort and unease, hinting that the film is more like a thriller. The text being showed in the opening sequence is nicely constructed. They are all in 3-D form and almost like floating in the air between buildings. They are all arranged according to the perspective of the buildings at the background which make them fit in really well. The music of the opening credit is nicely constructed with string instruments which create suspense and apprehension fitting the genre of the film- thriller.

Opening sequence of Mission Impossible

The opening sequence of Misson Impossible is really fast-paced and intense. The scenes and pictures are closely edited, and the transition is incredibly quick, matching the genre of the film- action. Lots of information are provided through the opening credit. The agent data and photos show that the characters in the film are mostly agents and spies. Their formal suits and dark color outfits, show secrecy and that they might be working for the government. The flmae, fire, gun and the blood stain show that there might be gun fights, bombs and murder throughout the film. None of the charaters appeared in the opening sequence is smiling, suggsting seriousness and unease. The music is one of the most important part of the opening credit. It matches with the quick transition of the scenes and it suggests intensive action and fast-paced storyline.
